Day 4
John 4:13-15
13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir,[d] give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.”
The woman at the well represents a beautiful image of the journey of intimacy. When Jesus first begins talking with her, she’s confused, but she continues to engage in conversation that reveals the truth. She stays present, questions and all, and her understanding of who she’s talking to grows with each passing moment. When she asks for living water, she is vulnerable to admitting that Jesus has something she needs. However, when the woman requests living water, Jesus requests the truth. He will not offer her what she cannot carry. He asks about her husband not to embarrass her but to get to the heart of her brokenness because he understands that the living water she desires will only be effective if it reaches the place of her deepest brokenness. The living water is the Spirit of God that heals and reveals everything. In the place of intimacy, there is nowhere to hide. By speaking to the place of the woman’s greatest pain, Jesus touched the place of her greatest need. Only when she confessed the truth of her brokenness outside of Jesus could she understand the depth of her need for him. This allowed her to finally recognize Jesus as the Messiah. Once she received him, her worship was her testimony. By the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of her encounter, she evangelized her whole city for Christ. By the power of the Spirit, the truth of Christ restored the truth of who she was, always meant to be in him, and set her free.

Prayer Points
God search the deep places of my heart and my life. Reveal every area that has been hidden from you and begin to heal the broken areas with the living water of your truth. (John 4:13-15)
Lord, I want to experience the living water that can only come from you. Fill me up with your Holy Spirit and give me the heart of a true worshiper so I not only know the truth but live by the truth and worship you in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24)
Lord, let my testimony be a catalyst for the salvation of many. Allow me to be bold in my faith. May they hear my story, see my life, and know my God. (John 4:39-42)
