The Miseducation of the Gospel-Part 1: Understanding the Gospel
I grew up hearing about the Gospel my whole life. I knew that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sin. I understood that He rose from the dead on the 3 days. In Romans 1, Paul says that the Gospel is the power of God saving everyone who believes. I knew that the Gospel had saved me but because I didn’t have a deep, practical understanding of it in my heart, I didn’t know how it was supposed to change me. For years I struggled with the miseducation of the Gospel because my faith was focused on what I was doing, not on what Jesus already did. The truth is I had the knowledge of the Gospel but not the power of it because I didn’t understand its impact on my everyday reality. By God’s grace - through the Holy Spirit - God has opened my eyes and heart to see the beauty of the Good News. He has shown me that the Gospel changes everything but before it can change anything, it must change you. I’m called to be vulnerable and transparent with my story on the Light Point and I will continue to do that but the real me is in love with the Gospel and is called to share that Good News with the world. So as you watch the video below, allow the Gospel to minister to your heart in a new way- you may have heard it before, but listen again. the message never gets old. Too many of us have suffered from the Miseducation of the Gospel but today we choose to find understanding.
